- I became a father late in life when my wife and I adopted Maia, who was then almost 2, in Kazakhstan on May 7, 2004. It was easily the best thing Kristina and I have ever done. I started a blog for Maia because I want to create a record for her of our thoughts about her and of things that have happened since she has been with us. The blog sort of tells a story so you might want to start at the beginning--but the truth is you could probably start anywhere. Thanks to all who stop by here.
